here is a quick (35 min) sketch of how I think we should show the sections. this would be the approach from the NE as if you were walking to the zocalo through the orchard.
major elements are a collage of ecosystems, path, captions explaining relationships, and diagrams summing up experience.

i think the setup is great!!! it might be nice to show the overall picture as less seamless--- but more as a collage of separate parts--- its going to be difficult to use the pics of the site that we have already and weave them without seams.... and i think the seams would be a nice graphic flare
the cut line should also follow the appx. grade of the land.
i think it would be great to have the site photos in the back at a 50% opacity and they can be roughly seamed. then I would put something in front like what david is showing, including people, birds...
i am unsure of the black band along the bottom - i think it is a little heavy and doesn't quite go with the feeling of the board. I do however think that a caption below and line diagrams are always helpful.
I agree with Rachel - I think we should stay consistent with the white background and leave out the black bar. Background images at low opacity would be really nice as well.
