My first impression was that this pavilion would be more effective nearer to the cemetery gate (as we were imagining earlier in the project). However, by setting it at a distance, the pavilion recognizes that the experience of the cemetery begins at a distance (on the approach), and not at the gate. In this sense, the park really does lend itself to its surroundings.
