shaded seating

Start of a sketchup model. almost ready to trace after comments. the trees will be left out and put in later with photoshop. also the ground will be added once the comments are in. I prefer view 1 just because the building is hidden.

i think it looks good. what do you think of in terms of materiality for the tables and chairs?? as well as the small structures?

I definitely like the top image, but I disagree about wanting to hide the building. I'm actually more impressed with the shaded seating in the bottom image - somehow it seems to integrate really well with the building, and that's exactly what we want to illustrate, right?

if you did use the bottom image with the building in it --- i would bring the seating and trees further into the foreground, so that they are still the main focus. the building dominates them in the perspective right now.

as for materiality - perhaps cast in place concrete for the tables and chairs - most durable and vandal-proof. the shade structures perhaps steel posts with a shade cloth like the center. I am not sure finished this one up at 11:00 last night and i just wanted to represent something. I agree that the bottom is perhaps better if we do what john suggested about pulling the trees into the foreground.
